Quick Tips to Crafting Your Personal Brand
If you are not crafting your personal brand every single day, what are you doing with your life?
You may be saying, but Brandy, I'm not selling anything...I'm just living my life, doing whatever...I don't need a brand! I'm going to call bullshit on that one, doll!
Everyone needs a brand. I repeat. EVERYONE NEEDS A BRAND!
What is your personal brand? Simply put, your personal brand is who you are and what people see. Hopefully, these are the same images, as it would be tragic if you thought people saw you one way, but they really saw you as something completely different.
What do you to need to craft your personal brand?
- Be aware of yourself. If you don't know how you are showing up, ask those around you. Ask your friends, family, co-workers, classmates, whoever interacts with you regularly. Simply ask these people what they initially thought of you. Did you seem nice? Did you appear knowledgeable? Whatever you think you are portraying, ask if that is true. Get some clarity!
- Pay attention to your strengths. If you're unsure what those are, and there is no shame in that, consider this: what do most people come to your for? Part of my personal brand is being easy to talk to. How do I know that? Because people tell me all types of stuff about their lives, thoughts, and feelings with general ease. I put out vibes as someone who will listen, which is true! I love learning about people and giving them the space to tell their story.
- Work on what matters. Some people will tell you to fake it till you make. Sometimes thats good advice. This is not one of them. Your personal brand is PERSONAL! Your brand is a reflection of you and most importably, what matters most to you. I'm sure there are traits and charactersitcs you value in others and yourself. If you find there is something you want to be better at in your day to day, work on that. If you want to be more outgoing, do something that you consider outgoing.
Your personal brand should reflect you in your most authentic state. Your brand is what people will talk abut once you leave the room. Don't leave it to chance. Evaluate how byou are showing up. Make sure it is how you want people to see you. However, nothing is more important that how you see yourself. POP ON, BOO!
